Last updated August 2026

This document covers the current app release. The account and paid-plan sections will be expanded before those features ship.

Again Replay is built around a simple split: the app keeps your video on your local network and needs no personal data to use, and a separate, optional account system handles licensing and billing for paid plans. The only things the app itself sends off your device are two optional, opt-out diagnostic streams — crash & performance reports and product-usage analytics — and neither ever includes your video. This policy explains each.

The app needs no personal data

The Again Replay app streams video peer-to-peer over your local network using automatic device discovery (mDNS). It has no ads, no advertising identifiers, and no tracking across other companies' apps or websites. You give it no name, email, or account to send or watch a replay.

  • No video ever leaves your network. Streams flow directly between your devices — never through us or any cloud.
  • No personal information is required to send or watch a replay.
  • No ads and no advertising identifiers, and nothing tracks you across other companies' apps or websites.
  • The only data the app sends off your device is the two optional, opt-out streams below — crash & performance reporting and usage analytics — and neither ever includes your video.

Crash & performance reporting

To find and fix bugs, the app can send crash reports, performance traces, and profiling data to Sentry. This is diagnostic information only, and it is separate from the account system below.

  • On by default, and yours to turn off. You can disable it at any time in the app under Settings → Share Crash Reports.
  • No video, ever. No video and no stream content is included — only crash and diagnostic metadata such as errors, timings, and your device and app version.
  • No IP addresses. We turn off Sentry's default personal-data collection, so your IP address is not attached to reports.
  • Credentials in stream URLs are masked before any report leaves your device.

Usage analytics

To understand which features people use and where they get stuck, the app can send anonymous product-usage analytics to PostHog. This helps us improve the app; it is not advertising and is never sold. Like crash reporting, it is optional and separate from the account system below.

  • On by default, and yours to turn off. You can disable it at any time in the app under Settings → Share Usage Analytics.
  • What it records: which screens you view and which features you use — for example connecting to a stream, seeking, frame-stepping, changing playback speed, opening multi-view, zooming, and exporting a clip — plus connection attempts and their outcomes, and anonymous session summaries such as how long a replay was watched and how many playback stalls occurred.
  • Attached to each event: your app version, your platform and a coarse device model (e.g. “iPhone15,2”), a random, anonymous install identifier generated on your device, and an approximate location — country, region, and city — that PostHog infers from your IP address when it receives the event. Unlike crash reporting above, which attaches no IP, analytics uses your IP to derive this coarse location. None of this is tied to your name, email, or account.
  • No video, ever. No video and no stream content is included. Credentials in stream URLs are masked before an event leaves your device.
  • No ads and no cross-app tracking. No advertising identifiers, and nothing follows you across other companies' apps or websites.
  • Hosted in the EU. Analytics events are sent to PostHog's EU Cloud (eu.i.posthog.com).

Third-party processors

The diagnostic and analytics data above is handled on our behalf by two service providers, each under its own privacy policy:

We turn both off if you opt out in Settings, and we ask each provider to process this data only to run the service for us.

How long we keep it

Crash reports and usage analytics are retained only as long as needed to diagnose problems and understand how features are used, and then they age out. Because analytics carries only a random, anonymous install identifier — never your name, email, or account — it is not linked back to you.

The account system (paid plans)

Personal and Business plans require an account so we can enforce device licensing. This account system is the only part of Again Replay that stores personal data, and it holds the minimum needed to run billing and activation:

  • Email address — to identify your account and send essential service messages.
  • Billing details — processed by our payment providers (RevenueCat, and Stripe for Business). We do not store your full card details on our servers.
  • Device fingerprints — a non-reversible identifier per activated device, so a seat can be tied to a device.
  • Heartbeat / last-seen timestamps — to show which devices are active and to enforce how many run at once.

We never receive the contents of your streams. The account system knows only which devices are licensed and active — never what they are showing.

Payment processors

We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and entitlements, with the App Store, Google Play, and Stripe (for Business plans) handling payments. Their handling of your payment information is governed by their own privacy policies.

Data retention & your rights

Account data is retained while your account is active. You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account data by emailing us. Deleting your account removes your email, device fingerprints and liveness records; billing records may be retained where required by law.
